SHEQ Engineer

Location: Chorley
Reporting to: Senior Quality Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SHEQ Engineer to support the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of our Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety management systems. The role ensures compliance with ISO standards, regulatory requirements and company policies, while promoting a strong safety and quality culture across projects and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
• Lead internal audits, risk assessments and incident investigations
• Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
• Support supplier evaluations, inspections and SHEQ reviews
• Monitor and report on KPIs, incidents and ESG data
• Provide SHEQ support to project teams, including CDM compliance
• Conduct site visits, audits and joint inspections with clients
• Maintain training matrices and compliance documentation
• Support certification renewals and external audits

Requirements

• 3+ years’ experience in a SHEQ or similar engineering role
• HNC/HND in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline
• NEBOSH (or equivalent) certification
• Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001
• Auditing experience and strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to travel across the UK as required

Desirable

• Experience in heavy engineering / infrastructure projects
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and NEC contracts
• Formal ISO Internal Auditor qualification
