Packaging Structural Designer — West Yorkshire

We're working on behalf of a long-standing, family-owned manufacturer in West Yorkshire who are looking to add an experienced Packaging Structural Designer to their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Packaging Structural Designer to join a business with a strong reputation for premium packaging and finishing work for household-name retail and consumer brands.

The Role

As Packaging Structural Designer, you'll be responsible for creating innovative carton board and structural packaging solutions from concept through to production. You'll work closely with sales, production, printing and quality teams to deliver cost-effective, functional and visually striking packaging for a broad range of clients.

Key responsibilities include

• Designing and developing structural carton board concepts using packaging-specific CAD software
• Producing detailed technical drawings, die-lines and specifications for manufacture
• Creating prototypes and samples for customer evaluation
• Optimising designs for material efficiency, strength, cost and sustainability
• Liaising directly with customers to understand briefs and provide technical support
• Supporting new product development and continuous improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For

• A qualification in Packaging Technology, Product Design, Industrial Design or a related discipline
• Proven experience in structural packaging design, ideally within folding carton or carton board
• Proficiency in packaging-specific structural design software
• Strong understanding of die-cutting, folding, gluing and print processes
• A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a similar role
• Experience within FMCG, food, beverage, pharmaceutical or retail packaging would be advantageous

The Package

• £29,000 - £34,000 (depending on experience)
• Pension contribution
• Permanent position
