JOB - Electrical Design Engineer

 

LOCATION – Portsmouth

 

TERM – Permanent

 

SALARY - £40,000 - £45,000 (Dependant on experience)

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of electrical systems used within the company’s manufactured equipment. This role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical design, controls, and production to deliver reliable and compliant electrical designs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts
  • Develop electrical systems for bespoke and standard manufacturing equipment
  • Produce technical documentation including bills of materials and specifications
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical standards and regulations
  • Support the build, test, and commissioning of equipment when required
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to resolve design and production issues
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards

 

Requirements

  • Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience in electrical design within a manufacturing or machinery environment
  • Proficiency with electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
