Product Design Engineer
Location: St Albans
Term: Permanent
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum

A growing engineering and manufacturing company based in St Albans is looking to recruit a Product Design Engineer to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for innovative design and product development to be involved in the full lifecycle of projects.

The Product Design Engineer will ideally have the following:

  • Degree or HND/HNC in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

  • Experience in product design and development, ideally within a manufacturing environment

  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks or similar)

  • Understanding of materials, manufacturing techniques, and design for manufacture (DFM)

  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

  • Lighting experience would be desirable

The Product Design Engineer role will involve:

  • Creating and developing new product concepts and designs

  • Producing detailed 3D CAD models and technical drawings

  • Supporting prototyping, testing, and validation activities

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including production and sales

  • Maintaining documentation and ensuring designs meet customer and regulatory requirements

  • Contributing to continuous improvement and innovation within the design team
