JOB - Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION - Northampton
TERM - Permanent
SALARY - £35,000 to £45,000 per annum (plus benefits)
Premier Engineering is collaborating with an industry-leading company based in Northampton. They are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team and work on a range of innovative projects.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on sheet metal design.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software, particularly SolidWorks.
- Expertise in designing sheet metal components, including knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering (BEng, MEng, HND, HNC, etc.).
- Strong understanding of materials, tolerances, and engineering principles.
- Experience creating detailed engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Familiarity with Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team.
The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
- Designing and developing mechanical systems and sheet metal components for various engineering projects.
- Using SolidWorks to create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
- Generating accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
- Collaborating with production teams to ensure designs meet manufacturing and quality standards.
- Conducting design reviews and implementing improvements based on feedback and testing results.
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering on time and within budget.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance designs for performance and cost efficiency.
