ROLE – Mechanical Design Engineer

 

LOCATION- Swindon

 

TERM- Permanent

 

SALARY- £30,000 - £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience

 

My client is a manufacturer of specialist products for a variety of sectors, and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the Swindon area.

 

Hands-On or Project experience is desired for this role, but not a necessity.

 

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with Sheet Metal/Metalwork is necessary for this role
• Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as Creo, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.
• Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
• Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
• Have the ability to carry out mechanical calculations
• Any previous experience of working with process machinery or steel / metal materials would be desirable
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Proficient using MS Office
• Excellent organisational skills and time management skills

 

The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

• Working within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
• Producing 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor CAD software and 2D designs with AutoCAD
• Liaising with manufacturing providers
• Being involved in final assembly of products
• Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
• Updating 3D models and drawings
• Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
• Checking drawings for sign off
• Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects

My client is a specialist sheet metal manufacturer based in Chester. They are looking for a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

 

The Graduate Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering or similar
• Experience in a similar Design position
• Experience with Sheet metal and other metal materials
• Previous experience designing bespoke/precision products and mechanics, in professional or educational setting or in your spare time

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• At least 3 years’ experience in a similar Design Engineering / CAD Operation position
• Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment

• Be proficient using 3D CAD software, they use Revit.
• Knowledge of a variety of metal materials – sheet metal, steel.
• Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
