Maintenance Engineer (Night Shift)
Location: Kent
Salary: 38,000-42,000 (Depending on experience)
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to carry out planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on food manufacturing equipment and site services. Working independently or as part of the engineering team, you will help maximise equipment reliability, minimise downtime, and support continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned preventative maintenance on production and ancillary equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults, carrying out electrical isolations where authorised.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and identify root causes to prevent repeat issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and support spare parts management.
- Work closely with production teams to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
- Assist with engineering projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and training of colleagues where required.
- Promote high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping across the site.
- Work in a food manufacturing environment, including cold storage areas, with manual handling duties.
Requirements
- Electrically biased with strong fault-finding skills and experience working on industrial machinery.
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship, Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in a mechanical discipline, or at least 5 years' maintenance engineering experience.
- Mechanical maintenance experience with knowledge of electrical isolation/LOTO procedures.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and IT skills (Microsoft Office).
- Previous experience in an FMCG or food manufacturing environment is desirable.
Working Pattern
- 4 on / 4 off rotating pattern.
- 12-hour shifts.
