The Opportunity

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of the design and development of mechanical components and systems, working from concept through to production-ready outputs. This is a hands-on role with real variety — no two projects are the same, and you will be working closely with colleagues across engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams to deliver solutions that meet demanding technical specifications.

The Role:

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems using SolidWorks
• Create detailed schematics and drawings for manufacturing
• Conduct root cause analysis to troubleshoot design issues
• Carry out mathematical structural calculations to support design creation and analysis
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure designs meet technical specifications

What They're Looking For:

• Proven mechanical design engineering experience
• Proficient in SolidWorks — including 3D modelling, assemblies, and technical drawings
• Degree or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Strong mechanical knowledge with an understanding of system design
• SolidWorks Simulation / FEA experience beneficial — training available for the right candidate

The Package:

• £40,000–£45,000 depending on experience
• Non-contractual performance bonus 
• Monday to Thursday 08:00–16:30, Friday 08:00–15:30

My client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the concept and detailed design of mechanical and electromechanical products.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
• Degree qualified Engineer with a minimum of 5 years industry experience
• Proven ability in one of the leading 3D CAD modelling packages, ideally Creo
• Experience of designing with both metals and plastic materials
• Good experience in working with electromechanical products
• Knowledge/experience in concept design work
• Knowledge of rotating components such as bearings, seals, gears, and pulleys would be advantageous
• Excellent knowledge of GD&Ts
• Experience in DFMEA and DFM
• Ability to work from first principles in concept design work, utilising strong problem-solving skills

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
• Assisting in the design of a range of engine ancillaries including oil, water, and fuel pumps
• Concept and detailed design
• Working from first principles to support concept design activities and problem solving

My client provides bespoke Lighting and engineering solutions for manufacture. They are looking for a Product Design Engineer to join their team in the North London area on a permanent basis.

 

The Product Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / Degree qualified in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering / Mechanical/Electrical Design / Industrial Design / Engineering Design or similar
• 4 or more years’ industry experience ideally working in a similar industrial design / development role within a manufacturing environment
• Proficient with using 3D CAD software ideally Inventor or AutoCAD software for design
• Knowledge and experience with Lighting solutions is beneficial but not necessary
• Able to manage projects and work to deadlines and budgets
• Experienced designing products from concept to production

Title: Process Quality Engineer

Location : Bury St Edmunds, IP33 3SZ (onsite)

 Purpose of the Role:

The Process Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring robust Quality Control within Gas Control Valve (GCV) production and providing first-line manufacturing engineering support to maintain high product standards and reliable production flow.

 

Essential Functions/Duties

1. Quality Control Support

a) Deliver daily, hands-on Quality Control support for GCV production, monitoring RFT performance and resolving defects and line stoppages utilizing containment, temporary actions, and 8D methodology.

b) Report daily on production cell quality performance, including line stop investigations and MRB decisions, and work with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to resolve issues and improve customer satisfaction.

c) Investigate customer returns (RMA/SIs) and supplier defect root causes, conduct or request material and dimensional analyses, provide feedback on production, and support incoming/finished goods non- conformance inspections.

d) Collaborate with Operations to produce mandatory documentation (e.g., EoMR, Declarations of Conformity) in line with ISO 9001, PED, and ATEX.

e) Participate in internal, supplier or customer audits.

 

2. Production Build and Test Procedures

a) Develop, maintain, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) processes for new and existing products.

b) Train and support production staff on quality changes, new assembly and test procedures.

C) Design, implement, and maintain production and test equipment such as jigs, fixtures, temperature tanks, and pressure testing systems.

 

3. Manufacturing Engineering Support

a) Act as the first point of contact for equipment issues and provide or coordinate technical support.

b) Support routine maintenance according to business priorities.

c) Support QA with calibration of gauges and measuring tools.

d) Collaborate with the technical team to contribute to or prepare DFMEA and PFMEA studies.

e) In accordance with internal Engineering change procedures, approve and assist in executing Engineering Change Orders (ECN/ECO) in the ERP system.

f) Develop and maintain product manuals and instructional documents covering procedures, maintenance requirements, operating limitations, and safety information.

 

4. General Responsibilities

a) Comply with internal Quality procedures and standards.

b) Maintain business and document management systems accurately.

c) Follow all Health & Safety policies and procedures.

d) Maintain current knowledge of Company policies and procedures and ensure full compliance.

e) Respond constructively to change and assist with new tasks or projects as needed.

 

Education & Experience

§ Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical field.

§ Minimum 4 years of relevant operation or engineering experience.

 Knowledge & Skills Essential:

§ Strong understanding of Quality and Lean principles, including structured root cause analysis methods (8D, 3×5Y).

§ Experience applying Lean assembly techniques in a manufacturing environment.

§ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and perform dimensional inspection using precision measurement tools.

§ Solid knowledge of assembly and test processes for mechanical products.

§ Understanding of drafting standards and engineering documentation requirements.

§ Knowledge of US/EU product certification standards, including PED and ATEX compliance.

§ Proficiency with 2D drafting and 3D modelling tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar).

§ Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

§ Ability to work effectively independently as well as within cross-functional teams. Desirable:

§ Experience with electrical engineering, castings, hydraulics/pneumatics, PED compliance, ATEX/hazardous areas, CSA, CFD, and FEA.

 Language, Mathematic & Reasoning:

§ Ability to interpret technical reports and communicate effectively in small groups.

§ Ability to perform engineering calculations.

§ Ability to define problems, analyze data, and draw valid conclusions.
