Design and Development Engineer
Location: Derby
Term: Permanent
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum

A well-established engineering company based in Derby is seeking a Design and Development Engineer to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in both the conceptual and practical stages of new product development and innovation.

The Design and Development Engineer will ideally have the following:

• Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline

• Proven experience in a mechanical design or product development role

• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)

• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and design for manufacture (DFM)

• Ability to take a product from concept through to production

• Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

The Design and Development Engineer role will involve:

• Designing new products and developing improvements to existing products

• Creating 3D CAD models and detailed technical drawings

• Prototyping, testing, and validating new designs

• Working closely with production, quality, and purchasing teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-efficiency

• Conducting design reviews and risk assessments

• Maintaining accurate documentation throughout the product development lifecycle
